Bring your Furry Friends outside and see them thrive as you team up to Hike with them and D2R
"When we got to the top of the hike, we said, 'Pup, pup, hooray!
GK
Dogs are not our whole life but they makes our lives whole.”
– Roger Caras
Meaning
Bringing our pups with us will definitely add a new meaning and perspective to our D2R time outside!Dogs will smell and move in different directions than “our planned route” and that may not always be a bad idea! Lets give them a chance to surprise us!
With our never ending connected busy life, i noticed many times as i walk my pup that many people are looking at their phones and not even paying attention to their 4 legged friend! D2R will also bring a new meaning to what it means to bond with our furry friend!
Having our pup with us will also be a positive in terms of safety for us!
Our Pets & God
Remember not all parks and trails allow dogs! So make sure as you plan your adventure to D2R to pay attention to the rules for each outdoor area you are planning to visit, otherwise you might get a bad surprise after reaching your desired destination.
Mileage: depending on your dog’s age, fitness and breed, make sure to plan in a way that you are not forcing your friend to aa over worked hike or walk! Remember they will never stop and most of the time follow you even when they are exhausted! ALWAYS Avoid doing harm to your pup!
Another MAJOR point here is to always keep your dog on the leash. So plan accordingly even in terms of what type of leash to bring, depending on your pup longer?shorter? etc.
Goals & Gains
Ou Main goal will be to get our pups outside and enjoy the outdoors the same way we do!
Another goal will be to spend more quality time with our pups! and even to train them to be the best they can be out there, to be team mates and have fun in the process!
The benefits will always be more than anything to have the happiest pup! After all, all they want the most is to share time with us! Making them a part of our D2R adventures will be something in the short and long run will make them more fit, more sociable and more daring to try new places, new people, new pups, nature at its most raw state!!
Talking about fitness, remember is all progressive. So don’t pretend to take your pup on a first hike for a 10 miler… start short distances and increase mileage progressively!
First Steps & Logistics
Plan for your pup the same way you plan for yourself!
Poop baggies: Remember as we D2R our number one goal is to LEAVE NO TRACE BEHING, SO PICK AFTER YOUR DOG EVERY SINGLE TIME!
Weather: Specially in the winter months clothing counts! Bring some sort of coat if is too cold and waterproof in case you hit some rain. So, PLAN ACCORDINGLY considering the season you will be going out!
Food: make sure you bring enough food and snacks to fuel on , some treats
Water: enough water to cover the whole D2R adventure! Remember they, like us, will be burning probably a whole lot more calories than on the normal day.
Check our section for pets equipment to make sure you bring everything to make your team adventure memorable and fun for all!
